Welcome to our Year 4 Page
What have Year 4 been up to?
Year 4 had a wonderful trip to the Gunpowder Mills on Tuesday the 10th of July. In the morning, we made rockets and launched these, with many of us achieving great distances. Have a look at us making our rockets as well as the rockets we had the chance to look at after our launching success.
After we enjoyed our lunch on the field, we were put into teams and very successfully, worked with our team mates to complete 5 challenges. The whole afternoon showed us just how well Year 4 can work as a team.
Please note that Year 4 will be walking to Dewhurst St Mary's on Wednesday 4.7.18 to watch the performance of the opera Maria Stuarda.
We will be returning to school before 15.15 so
is at normal time.

A very big thank you to Mrs Millins who made our International Week such a success. The children loved learning about Polish culture, foods, celebrations, games and important Polish people.

Thank you to the parents who joined us for Working Together Morning on Thursday the 17th of May. It was a pleasure to have you join us to complete bunting in celebration of the Royal Wedding. The children really enjoyed it and your bunting is now a display in our classroom. Do have a look when you next come in.
Year 4 have been very successful with their maths learning. We have been adding and subtracting fractions and are very proud of our learning.
We have now finished our European themed board games in DT and are very proud of our completed games. We designed, built and evaluated our creations and have been able to play them.
Year 4 had a really good first week of our Summer term. We have begun looking at discussion texts in English, adding decimal numbers using regrouping as well as the formal method as well as Jobs as part of our geographic topic. Year 4 was also really lucky to watch The Railway Children production on Thursday.
Thank you for another wonderful term. We have been very busy in Year 4 and your children are going to enjoy a must needed rest. We have really enjoyed learning about decimals in maths, writing explanation and instruction texts in English, the Ancient Egyptians in History and so much more.

Our next working together morning will be on the 22 March. Please join us if you can.

Science Week 12.3.18
A huge congratulations to the children in Year 4 who all completed the Ripping Reptile Challenge. Their 3D reptiles, made only from paper and stuck together with glue, were admired by all who saw them.
Year 4 has started music with Miss Campbell this term and are really enjoying their music lessons. We have even been lucky enough to play instruments to accompany the songs that we have been learning to sing along to.
Our next working together morning will be on the 1st of March.

Working Together Morning 8.2.18
Thank you for all who came on Thursday to a very successful morning. We all enjoyed testing our maths skills using the multi-link cubes. Looking forward to seeing you all next time!

Week beginning 29.1.18.
In maths this week, Year 4 has been looking at conversations of measurement. We have been been multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 or 1000 in order to convert measures of mass, capacity or length.
Working together morning Thursday 25.1.18
A very big thank you to all of our parents who were able to join us for our first working together morning of 2018. We all had great fun building our puzzles of Europe with you.
Well done to all the children in Year 4 who took part in the Year 3 and 4 football tournament. You all played very well and your team effort paid off. It was a pleasure to watch you play.
Year 4 will be taking part in a Football Tournament with Year 3 on Friday the 1st of December.
Please make sure that your child comes into school with a pair of joggers to keep them warm during the tournament.
Year 4 spent the term learning all about volcanoes. We looked at how volcanoes are formed, the features of volcanoes and where volcanoes can be found.
Year 4 have been developing our football skills with Mr Edwards.
We have been learning all about passing, defending and striking.
Roald Day 2017
A very big well done to all of Year 4 on their fabulous costumes and the effort they put into their activities centred around Matilda. We had a wonderful day celebrating Roald Dahl today.
In maths, Year 4 have been working on Place Value. We have been learning about three and four digit numbers. We have been exploring Place Value using concrete apparatus and pictorial representations.
