Andrews Lane Primary School

Breakfast Club

Andrews Lane Breakfast Club has been set up to provide pupils of all ages with a safe and fun place to start their school day.
The aim of the club is to be informal and friendly, allowing children a choice as to how they start the day: some children like to wake up slowly, others prefer to get on and play. The club provides quiet space (for reading, etc), a free play area, as well as more structured activities. Play, rather than education, is at the heart of the club.

Each morning a nutritious breakfast is provided. The children are encouraged to sit down and talk together, the idea is that our breakfast replicates as far as possible the atmosphere of a family meal. At the end of the session, the children are well fed, happy and ready to learn.

Breakfast Club has a fixed cost of £3.00 per session, which includes a choice of breakfast and fun activities. The cost does not change depending on the time you arrive or if you choose not to have breakfast with us.

  • Every day we offer:-
Choice of at least 4 different cereals.
Toast with a selection of spreads (e.g. Jams,)
    Fruit juice, milk (soya available on request) and water;
    Yoghurt
  • Where possible, any special diets will be catered for.

Bookings
Due to Health & Safety Regulations places are limited. These need to be booked and paid by 2.30pm the day before the session is required via the Schoolgateway.
We reserve the right to refuse entry if a booking has not been made.

Opening Times
We are open every weekday during term time, excluding Inset days from 7.45-8.45am. Your child(ren) can be dropped off at any time between these times via the dining hall door. All parents/carers should ensure that their child is signed in by an adult. We serve breakfast until 8.20am. Please ensure your child arrives in plenty of time if you wish them to eat with us.

The Breakfast Club is run by Mrs Fitts (Breakfast Club Leader) who is DBS-checked and hold appropriate qualifications in first-aid, food hygiene and play work.
In addition, at least one member of the school staff is always on site in case of emergency.

Communication
We aim to make each child happy and comfortable at the breakfast club. You can help us by providing as much information as possible about their likes/dislikes on the enrolment forms.
Any information relevant to a particular day can be discussed briefly at drop-off. If you have any more detailed issues that you would like to discuss with club staff, then you can arrange a mutually convenient time for a telephone call or short meeting outside of club operation times.
As you will appreciate, the breakfast club staff have several children to look after and cannot always pass individual messages on to class teachers. If there is something which the class teacher needs to know, then please write a note or call the school office.
