Earlier this term we learnt about remembrance day. In Geography we were learning about addresses and what they mean. To combine our learning we wrote to Sir Captain Tom Moore to thank him for his role in WW2 and for what he has done for the NHS during COVID - we were thrilled to receive a letter in response from him.

Out Door Learning
This week in out door learning the children explored the forest. We looked at all the leaves, sticks and acorns that had fallen from the trees. The children then created their own Nature Crowns and became Kings and Queens of the Forest!

This week we have been thinking about remembrance. We have read the true life a story about a dog called Stubby.
Click on link 2 to hear Michael Foreman the author and illustrator reading the story.

This week we have been basing our learning around Fireworks night and why we celebrate it.
Ask your child about Guy Fawkes - what did he do?
We have been learning a poem about the 5th of November too
click on link 1 to hear the poem.
In science we have been naming and labelling body parts. We worked in groups to make a body outline and then used our phonic knowledge to write the labels to name the parts. After this we shared our learning with each other. We also sang and danced to Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.

Maths
This week we have been leaning about the whole part model. We have been investigating and exploring different numbers to 5 and 10. As a class we have learnt that 2 numbers go together to create a bigger number.

In Science we became animal detectives. We looked at a variety of animal images and had to identify the camouflaged animal. After this we went outside to use our senses to hear and look for animals in our environment. Then the children made binoculars and telescopes, to help them look carefully at smaller animals in our environment.
