Forest Schools
Forest school at Andrews lane
At Andrews lane School we have been delivering Forest school sessions to children in the early Years for over 10 years. For the last 3 years we have collaborated with BE Free Forest School, an outside provider in order to deliver forest school sessions across the school from Y1 to Y6. Each year group has the opportunity to take part in two six-week sessions over the year.
BE Free design and implement programmes which increase children’s independence, self-esteem, problem solving skills, resilience, well-being and install a love of learning in the natural world
Forest School pedagogy is based on the Scandinavian educational system. It has 6 main principles, endorsing child-led, experiential learning through play set in a natural environment. Children are encouraged to take charge of their own learning and develop practical skills.
