Summer Term 2024

Week beginning 01 July 24

Year 4 have been designing their own innovative machines.  These machines are Teacher Pleaser Machines and are guaranteed to keep your teacher happy.  In English, the children wrote a detailed explanation to explain the process of how their machine works.

Week beginning 24 June 24

In geography, Year 4 have been using Digimaps (a digital mapping programme) to locate where they live and services in the local area.

We also enjoyed watching ‘The Selfish Giant’ performed by the Image Theatre. Some of the children had the opportunity to join the actors on stage and they did themselves proud by remembering their lines and actions. Well done!

Wek beginning 10 June 24

In English, we have been learning about the poet, novelist and playwright Benjamin Zephaniah. We have also been reciting a poem called, ‘We sang across the sea The Empire Windrush and me’ which tells the story of Mona Baptiste who was number 7 on The Empire Windrush in 1948.  She travelled to England to fulfil her dream of being a singer.

Week beginning 20 May 24

Year 4 spent their £50.00 attendance reward on ice cream sundaes.

We put all the art techniques we have learned over this term to create our final masterpieces.

Springtime’ by Year 4.

Week beginning 13 May 24

This week in Maths, we have been using the whole and number of equal parts to find fractions of quantities.  The children used apparatus and pictures to help them solve and record their answers.

Week beginning 06 May 24

Year 4 have been experimenting with colour patterns and techniques when using water colours.  They created different sky arrangements using ‘bleeding’ and ‘layering’ techniques.

Week beginning 29 April 24

In year 4, we have started our new history topic, ‘Migration to Britain in the 20th Century’.  It was amazing to see that almost all of us have had a close relative who has migrated to Britain in the last 100 years.  Some of the children had themselves migrated to Britain in the 21st century. Please share your stories with us to make our topic more meaningful.

Week beginning 15 April 24

Forest School

Year 4 had a great time at Forest School making art using sunlight (cyanotype), building dens, making tools from nature, or just relaxing in a hammock.
